Harvest time in New Brunswick, Canada. We breakfast at Joe's Diner, over in Hammertown, bid our hosts good-bye, and head down the river on the small roads. Bound for Moncton, NB, we haven't got far to drive today so we can take our time. The leaves are just starting to change over- little shocks of color are revealing themselves in the hills. Even in the rain, it's a pretty drive south and east from Fredericton. The river is high after the stormy weekend.
We've discovered a few covered bridges on our backroads travels. Roadside stands are overflowing with pumpkins, corn and the other riches of the field. I can't resist buying some fresh corn to take to Moncton with us. Later, we'll cook it in our little band apartment over Plan B- our venue for this evening. Pre-show we go down the road to dine on sea food. I go for the chowder, Libby Rae has the lobster roll. We can't get enough of this good, Maritime fare. Tomorrow we'll head up to Pugwash and have grilled cheese and lobster sandwiches for lunch.
Our show goes well. We took yesterday off to go kayaking and to give our fingers and voices a bit of a rest. Today we are strong! I'm very happy with the way we are playing- and I think our mentor, Sam Chatmon would be, too. Sam's kids are alright! We are having fun and sounding good. It's a real pleasure to be playing with Libby Rae Watson, and I only wish we had done this sooner. Somebody said that Canada had just got a new sweetheart of the blues! In the morning we will head out in search of Andy's Dummies. Next: a house concert in Beckwith, NS...
So great to be taken along on tour with you guys! Thanks for the stories and pictures.
